Dubai's Crown Prince just launched a two-year plan to move 295,000 companies onto agentic AI. Here's what the policy version means versus what actually affects your business.
In early May 2026, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, launched a new initiative to move the emirate's entire private sector onto agentic AI — not chatbots, not dashboards, but AI agents that plan and complete work on their own. The executive plan targets 295,000 companies, aims to develop and deliver 100 specialised AI assistants, and supports the establishment of 50 new agentic AI companies, all within two years. Sheikh Hamdan put the ambition plainly: "Our goal is for Dubai to become the world's leading city in adopting these technologies economically and commercially, giving us a new competitive edge for the future." The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has been directed to roll out specialised training tracks across its business councils, stand up incubators for agentic AI companies, and set up dedicated funds to back the shift — and the initiative followed, by about ten days, a UAE federal framework to move half of government services onto agentic AI on the same two-year clock.
## The Headline Is Policy. The Version That Affects You Is Simpler.
If you run a small or mid-sized business in the UAE, this is moving from 'something the big banks and telcos are experimenting with' to 'something your industry association expects you to have a plan for' — on a two-year clock that started in May. That doesn't mean you need an enterprise transformation programme. It means three things are worth doing now, while most of your competitors are still deciding whether this applies to them.
## Get One Workflow Live, Not a Strategy Slide
The initiative rewards businesses that can point to a working agent — lead response, appointment booking, invoice reconciliation, whatever costs you the most manual time today — not businesses with the most polished AI roadmap. Pick the workflow that actually hurts and start there.
## Keep Your Data Where It Already Lives
You do not need to hand your customer or financial data to a new platform to take part in this shift. The right approach connects an agent to the CRM, calendar, and inbox you already use, and can run on infrastructure you control if data sensitivity is a concern.
## Expect This to Become a Competitive Line, Not Just a Policy One
As adoption becomes the regional norm rather than the exception, 'we don't do that yet' starts costing you deals with customers and partners who assume you already do. With 295,000 companies in scope, the businesses that move first will be setting the bar their competitors get compared against.
We built Limex around exactly this gap — agentic AI that acts, scoped and priced for a business that doesn't have an enterprise transformation budget, live in weeks rather than quarters. If you're trying to work out what this mandate actually means for your specific business, that's a shorter conversation than most people expect.
